Pakistan lost the final series decider ODI against South Africa. This marks another series loss for Pakistan in South Africa. After the champions trophy Pakistan has only won 3 ODI’s against the major cricketing powers of the world. Similarly, Pakistan has not won a series decider of five match ODI series for the last 16 years. Last time when Pakistan won the series decider was in 2002.
Now Pakistan has lost the Test and ODI series against South Africa. One of the major reasons is the in ability of Pakistan players to convert their starts into big centuries. In the ODI series only Imam Ul Haq scored the century for Pakistan side whereas in the test series no Pakistan player was able to achieve this feat.
Another cause for Pakistan’s horror run is the ineffectiveness of Pakistani bowlers. Pakistan cricket is not famous for its batting but is known in the cricketing world for its legendary bowlers like Wasim, Waqar, Imran and many others. But we have not seen those great spells from Pakistani bowlers in the recent times. No Pakistan bowler was able to take a single five wicket haul in the whole ODI series against South Africa.
Added to that Sarfraz Ahmed’s miserable form with the bat and the racism controversy did not help the cause either. Pakistan side really missed their captain in the final ODI, firstly with the bat when Rizwan was unable to put away Imran Tahir and secondly at the time when the stand in Captain Shoaib Malik made terrible decisions in the second innings. No one was able to understand when South Africans were on the attack why Pakistan introduced their best defensive bowler Imad Wasim so late in the innings.
At the moment Pakistan has also lost their first T20 International against South Africa. Pakistan side really needs to improve drastically in the next two games to win the T20 International series. To win something in order to save their faces and please their angry fans is imperative for Pakistani team.
Pakistan team fans should first, accept sadness. Realize that without losing, winning isn’t so great.
