It is a tale of the tremendous loser who sailed against the tides to attain the impossible. It is a tale of courage, character and strong determination displayed at its peak. It is the tale of how Pakistan side fought against England with never give up attitude to achieve the inevitable.
Pakistan side faced the uphill task of chasing down 374 runs. The thing with uphill tasks is either you can be overwhelmed by its magnitude or get to work and that’s what Pakistan side did. Each and everyone of them tried to give their hundred percent in order to accomplish their mission.
First was Fakhar Zaman, He fought like a gallant soldier who was ready to take the bull by its horns. He scored 138 runs but more important was his attitude that caught the English side off guard. He was unfazed by the situation and smashed the ball to all parts of the ground.
The second was Babar Azam, calm and composed technician. He kept rotating the strike and built a partnership of 135 runs with Fakhar Zaman. The likes of Sarfraz Ahmed and Asif Ali also played gritty knocks to keep Pakistan side alive in pursuit of such a mammoth target.
Pakistans ship sailed through all the storms and cyclones but sank near the shore. They were only able to score 361 runs off their allotted overs. Despite all the efforts and hard work, they were unable to cross the finish line.
